July 23, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Johnstown Chiefs News Release

Johnstown, PA- Johnstown Chiefs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Toby O'Brien announced today that they have agreed to terms with left wing Mike James and have signed rookie goaltender and Pittsburgh, PA native Kevin Reiter.

James, 22, appeared in 20 games for the Chiefs last season scoring a goal and four points along with 73 PIM. The 6'0, 175 LBS native of Windsor, Ontario missed most of the season with a fractured arm. Prior to joining the Chiefs, James spent the entire 2002-2003 season with the Windsor Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey League where he scored 21 goals and 39 points in 55 games.

"We are looking forward to Mike coming back for another season. He suffered a severe injury in November that set him back quite a bit. It was great that he was able to contribute at the end of the season like he did. He will only get better," said O'Brien.

Reiter, 22, spent the last four seasons with the University of Alaska- Anchorage Seawolves. Reiter was 6-12-1 last season for the Seawolves, posting a 3.62 GAA and a 0.902 save percentage. In 70 career games for Alaska-Anchorage, Reiter was 14-41-8 along with a 3.66 GAA and a 0.886 save percentage.

"Kevin is a player we have been watching for some time. He was a backbone for his team the last couple of seasons and was a fan favorite in Anchorage," said O'Brien.

Reiter played junior hockey with the Springfield (Ill.) Junior Blues of the North American Hockey League. He earned WCHA All-Academic Team honors his sophomore, junior and senior seasons.

Season ticket packages and flex plans are now available by calling the Chiefs office at (814) 539-1799 or 1-800-SLAPSHOT. Opening night is scheduled for Saturday, October 23rd when the Chiefs host the Wheeling Nailers at 7:00 p.m.
