Jam make changes in front office
February 5, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Maywood Laguneros News Release
Long Beach, CA. Jack Lucarelli, former Long Beach Jam Vice President, has taken the helm of the Jam front office as the new President of the 2003-2004 American Basketball Association (ABA) Champions.
"My priorities are to double our efforts in the community and help in any way I can to get the Jam organization back to its winning ways," said Lucarelli. "I look forward to working with the team owner Tet Yamashita. I have tremendous respect for his unrelenting commitment to this organization. With the help of a tremendous staff and with the support of sponsors like Steve James of the Long Beach Police Association, Gene Totondo of Legends Sports Bar, Don Rodriguez of the Long Beach Boys and Girls Club and several others, I will put forth my best efforts to getting more fans into the Pyramid Arena for the remaining Jam home games."
Former Orange County Crush and Jam head coach, Earl Cureton, has also moved into the Jam front office as the new COO of Basketball Operations. Cureton led the Jam to the championship title last season and has been a coach in the ABA for the last three years. He is also a former NBA player who has two championships with the Philadelphia 76ers and the Houston Rockets.
"Right now, I would like to see the Jam repeat as Champions of the ABA," said Cureton. "It is my pleasure to work with a great front office. As you know everything starts from the top and you couldn't have better personnel than we do now under the leadership of Jack Lucarelli."
Lucarelli has successfully established and maintained sponsor relationships with local institutions and businesses in the Long Beach community. He also help to establish a sturdy base of Long Beach Jam season ticket holders and made numerous deals with local middle schools in the district.
Before joining the Jam, Lucarelli was heavily involved in the motion picture and television industry for over 25 years. During his stint in the industry, he produced and directed two feature films. He will be featured in the new Miramax movie, Hostage, which stars Bruce Willis and is set to be released in March 2005.
Steve Chase, the former President and General Manager, resigned his day-to-day responsibilities with the team in January. For more information, please visit the Jam website at www.lbjam.com or call the Jam at 562 799 8100.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
