LONG BEACH, Calif. (Feb. 20, 2005) – Despite holding a 15-20 point lead through much of the game, the Long Beach Jam (15-9) decided to make it exciting, allowing the Ontario Warriors to tie it at 122 with 30 seconds on the clock. But Jam guard Fred Vinson hit a clutch 3-pointer with seven seconds left to play. The Jam's defense stifled Ontario's drive in the final three seconds to ensure the Long Beach victory before a crowd of 2,498.

The Jam was led by guard Derrick Dial with 28 points, 16 of those in the first half. Jack Hartman dominated the boards for the Jam with 10 rebounds. Vinson and Juaquin Hawkins also contributed with 20 and 19 points, respectively. Yuta Tabuse had a game-high 11 assists and also had nine rebounds.

Ontario's Curtis Slaughter led all scorers with 33 points. Jason Miller was the game's lead rebounder with 17, seven in the fourth quarter, contributing to Ontario's rally.

Star forward Dennis Rodman did not play in today's game due to slight tendonitis in his knees. According to Jam team officials, Rodman is expected to return for the playoffs but may return as early as Friday when the Jam host Tijuana in a 7:30 p.m. contest.

The Jam's next contest will take place Monday, Feb. 21 against the Orange County Buzz at 8 p.m. at Golden West College.
