LONG BEACH, Calif. (Jan. 23, 2005) â The Long Beach Jam (10-8) of the American Basketball Association (ABA) lead the Utah Snowbears (22-0) by as many as 28 points Sunday at the Pyramid in Long Beach before losing 118-113.
The Jam opened up an 85-57 lead with just over five minutes remaining in the third, but the Snowbears closed to within 95-81 by the end of the quarter. With 2:16 remaining in the ballgame, Utah tied the Jam at 108. The Snowbears closed with a 10-5 run to keep their perfect season in tact.

Despite 18 first-half points by Arceneaux, the Jam methodically built a double-digit first-half lead, outscoring Utah by four in the first quarter and six points in the second quarter to lead 61-51 at the break. Jerry Dupree paced the Jam with 10 points and seven rebounds (en route to 14 points and nine rebounds) and Jack Hartman added 11 points and five rebounds (en route to 13 points and 10 rebounds). He grabbed 14 boards in the Jam's ABA Championship victory over the Kansas City Knights. Rodman's first game with the Jam is Feb. 3 in Tijuana. His first home game will be Feb. 13 against the Ontario Warriors.
The Jam will play at Ontario Tuesday before a 7:30 p.m. match up Friday Jan. 28 with the Tijuana Dragons at the Pyramid.
