Colorado Mammoth defenseman Jay Jalbert was awarded defensive and overall player of the week honors on Wednesday by the National Lacrosse League.
Jalbert, a three-time NLL All-Star, won the awards for his performance in the Mammoth's 15-11 victory over the Arizona Sting on Saturday night in Glendale, Ariz. The Huntington, N.Y., native scored four goals and added three assists against the Sting. He also scooped up 11 loose balls and leads the Mammoth with 113 this season.
"Jay played an unbelievable game in Arizona and it's nice to see him rewarded," Mammoth general manager Steve Govett said. "He has become one of the best all-around players in the entire league and we're thrilled to see him performing at such a high level."
Jalbert leads all NLL defensemen in scoring this year with 27 points in 11 games. He set a career-high with 40 points in 2005.
