Washington Valor News Release

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Washington Valor announced today the signings of six players, led by three-time All-Arena linebacker Alvin Ray Jackson, who enters his ninth season in the league and second in Washington. Defensive backs Oshay Dunmore, who spent last season with the Valor, and Jabari Gorman, quarterback Darron Thomas, fullback Quayvon Hicks and offensive lineman Toree Boyd bring the Valor training camp roster count to 19.

Jackson, an eight-year AFL veteran, joined Washington during the 2018 season and started all three of the Valor's postseason games, including a three-tackle performance against Baltimore in ArenaBowl XXXI. To date, Jackson has totaled 473.5 tackles and 41 interceptions in his career.

Dunmore enters his second season in the league after spending portions of 2018 with Albany and Washington. Dunmore played the final six games of the season with the Valor and recorded a pair of solo tackles against Baltimore in ArenaBowl XXXI. Dunmore was a state champion track athlete in high school before his college career at Southern Oregon.

Gorman joins the Valor after spending 2018 with the Indoor Football League's Sioux Falls Storm, where he totaled 81 tackles and five interceptions in 16 games. Gorman, who played all four of his collegiate seasons at the University of Florida, including 10 starts during his senior year, appeared in two games for the AFL's Tampa Bay Storm in 2017.

Thomas grew up in Houston, Texas and played college football at the University of Oregon from 2008-11, leading the Ducks to a BCS National Championship appearance in 2011 and a Rose Bowl win in 2012. Thomas was named Second-Team All-Pac 10 for his 2010 performance, throwing for 2,881 yards and scoring 35 total touchdowns. His professional career includes three seasons with the AFL's Portland Steel (2014-16) and stints in the Canadian Football League, Indoor Football League and National Arena League.

Hicks enters his rookie season in the AFL after spending time with the NAL's Columbus Lions in 2018. After completing his collegiate career at Georgia, where he was the starting fullback for now-NFL running backs Todd Gurley, Nick Chubb and Sony Michel, Hicks was invited to training camp with the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Boyd, a Miami, Florida native and Howard University alumnus, enters his first season in the AFL.
