Atlantic City Blackjacks Add Four More to Inaugural Roster

ATLANTIC CITY- The Atlantic City Blackjacks announce that four players have been assigned to the team roster on the eighth day of free agency. Per League and team rules, terms are not disclosed. The free agency signing period for the Arena Football League began on Monday, March 4.

Arthur Hobbs, Defensive Back

Hobbs was signed by the San Diego Chargers of the National Football League on May 14, 2012 after going undrafted in the 2012 NFL Draft. He was released by the Chargers on September 1, 2012. He was signed to the Chargers' practice squad on December 26, 2012.

Hobbs signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League on April 11, 2013. In his first season in the CFL Hobbs contributed 32 defensive tackles, 2 special teams tackles and 2 interceptions. The Tiger-Cats lost in the championship game that season. He was released by the Tiger-Cats on May 21, 2014. His most recent tenure was spent with the Albany Empire for the 2018 season, where he recorded 29 tackles and 1 interception.

Tre James, Defensive Line

Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Tre James began his collegiate career in junior college before transferring to the University of Toledo. In his two years the Rockets, James played 22 games, tallying up five sacks for a net loss of 31 yards and forced one fumble.

Lawrence Martin IV, Offensive Line

Originally from Daytona Beach, Florida, Lawrence Martin IV spent time in the Arena Football League with Tampa Bay Storm following his collegiate career. He also spent time in the Canadian Football League with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and then joined the Nebraska Danger of the Indoor Football League. Martin signed with the Sioux Falls Storm during the 2018 season. Lawrence earned All-IFL honors during the 2018 season.

Donte Rumph, Defensive Line

Hailing from South Carolina, Donte Rumph played collegiately at the University of Kentucky. As a freshman, Rumph saw action in 12 games including the BBVA Compass Bowl. He was moved into the starting role in his sophomore season, compiling 31 tackles and three tackles for loss. During his junior year in 2012, Rumph broke out, starting all 11 games, tallying up 36 tackles, and four sacks. Rumph surpassed his career-high in tackles during his senior year, recording 47 total tackles on the season.

The Atlantic City Blackjacks' inaugural campaign will begin on the road on Saturday, April 27th against the three-time League champions, Philadelphia Soul, at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. Kickoff time will be announced at a later date. The Blackjacks will play their first ever home game at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall on Saturday, May 4 against the Columbus Destroyers.
