East Texas PumpJacks News Release

The Pump Jacks return to historic Driller Park for just two games this week, but there's a lot packed into that one series. Fans can enjoy both Thirsty Thursday and Fireworks Friday, not to mention the stretch drive in the fight for a playoff berth.

This week promises to be full of excitement both on and off the field as the Pump Jacks welcome the Woodlands Strykers back to Driller for the second time in less than a week, this time with two of the team's most popular promotions.

The homestand kicks off on Thursday, when fans can quench their thirst for both baseball and frosty drinks with Thirsty Thursday. Beat the heat with some of the coolest drink prices in East Texas. Regular fountain drinks are just 50 cents, and 12-ounce draft beers are only one dollar. Be sure to check out our Bottoms Up beer taps, the incredible beer system that fills your cup from the bottom!

The brief homestand wraps on Friday night with the third Fireworks Friday of the season, presented by CBS 19. Following the game the Jacks will light up the night sky with a spectacular fireworks show, the best in town. Every fireworks show features a new and unique soundtrack, and this one celebrates something we all enjoyed as children: cartoons! So relive your youth and cheer on the Jacks' cartoon-flavored fireworks!

Cheering shouldn't be a problem this week, not if the last meeting with the Strykers is any indication. The Pump Jacks battled The Woodlands to a three-game sweep in two days, but the triumphs weren't without some drama. The two teams fought into extra innings on Saturday before Zach Jones sliced a walk-off single in the 11th inning.

The following day, Mitch Meyer blasted two homers, including a walk-off grand slam, and Jordan Johnson earned Warstic TCL Pitcher of the Week... and that was just in the first game of the doubleheader! In the nightcap, the Jacks got out to a 7-0 lead, only to see the Strykers take the lead in a see-saw affair that East Texas ultimately won, 12-9.

The defending champion Pump Jacks are also battling for a playoff spot. With seven games remaining in the first half, the Jacks are four games out of second place and a guaranteed berth in the postseason. Another sweep of the Woodlands would go a long way in the effort to become the first TCL team ever to repeat as champion.
