Strykers Will Look to Split Series with Cane Cutters

The Woodlands Strykers opened up a two game series with the Acadiana Cane Cutters tonight at Strykers Stadium at The Woodlands Christian Academy. The two teams were neck and neck until the Cane Cutters pulled away in the middle innings. The two teams will close out the series tomorrow night(June 26th) at 7:05 from Strykers Stadium.

The Strykers got their two runs on a homerun in the fifth by first baseman Dirk Masters that scored both him and Conner Fikes who had a single earlier in the inning. The Strykers got nine hit on the nights but could not squeeze out anymore runs. Fikes had one hit, Landon Merka added two, Masters had the one, Sanchez had two. Also having two hits was Robert Heep. Zach Davis added one hit.

McAllen native, Alexis Garza started on the mound. He threw five innings, striking out six batters, and giving up two runs. Greg Jakusik came into the game and only gave up one earned run as the defense slipped behind him. Nolan Holland pitched a little more than two innings. In that time he struck out two. Kevin Roy struck out two batters in the final inning.

The two teams will conclude the series tomorrow night at 7:05 from Strykers Stadium at The Woodlands Christian Academy. After the game tomorrow, the team travels back to Kilgore for two games on Thursday and Friday. The team will return home this weekend to take on the league leading Brazos Valley Bombers.
