
Cane Cutters Stay Busy on the Base Paths; Win 7-2 in Woodlands

The Cane Cutters started another winning streak Tuesday night, winning big in the Woodlands 7-2. It was the Cane Cutters' second win in as many games, pushing their record to 11-12 on the season with 11 games to go before the TCL All-Star Break. The loss for Woodlands was their 16th on the season, making their record 7-16 as the break quickly approaches. After the win, Acadiana remained 3 games behind the second-place Victoria Generals in the Texas Collegiate League, as Victoria beat the Texas Marshals 6-2 tonight in Dallas.
Jake Winston started and won the game for Acadiana, giving up just two runs, only one of which was earned, over 8 innings while allowing 8 hits and 2 walks and striking out 3 batters. Jace Statum, Mitchell Nau, and Kyle Cedotal each had big nights at the plate for the Cane Cutters. Statum hit an RBI double in the 5th, scoring the first run of the night for the Cane Cutters. Warstic Player of the Week Mitchell Nau would follow with an RBI single, tying the game at 2. He finished the game with 2 hits in 4 at bats with an RBI and a walk. Cedotal had a huge game, stroking 2 doubles in 4 at bats, driving in 2 runs in the eventual game-winning 6th for the Cane Cutters and scoring 2 runs.
The Cane Cutters will play a second game against the Woodlands Strykers tomorrow night at 7:00 in Woodlands before returning to Fabacher Field in Youngsville to take on the Texas Marshals on Thursday and Friday, June 27thand 28 th. With a win tomorrow night, the Cane Cutters will be at 12-12 and playing .500 ball for the first time this season as the team continues its vast improvement deep into the first half. On Friday the Cane Cutters will host their first ever Paul's Jewelry Diamond Dash, where 30 lucky fans will have the opportunity to search the field for a diamond necklace valued at $2,300. It will certainly be a blast, so be sure you dash to Fabacher Field for all the excitement!
