Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
The Shreveport Mudbugs (3-5-2) got off to a rough start to open the game and couldn't recover falling to the Odessa Jackalopes, 4-1 Saturday night at George's Pond in Hirsch Coliseum.
The Jacks opened up the scoring w/ goals at 1:46 and 6:14 of the opening period from John Perdion and Brendan Finn respectively to lead 2-0 early on the Bugs. Shreveport just couldn't get any high quality scoring chances early in the game. SOG were tied 12-12 after one.
After the Jacks scored again early in the 2nd period, the Bugs finally responded with a fortunate skate from Logan Valkama to deflect in his second goal in as many games to make it a 3-1 contest at 4:38. Unfortunately Odessa got a goal back at 13:20 from Emerson Goode who fired home his second goal of this series off a broken play in front.
The Bugs just couldn't get much going on in the third period as it got a little chippy at the end w/ a few tough penalties on them. Shreveport settles for a series split against Odessa.
The Bugs will hit the road and take on the Amarillo Wranglers for a two-game series beginning next Friday. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. from the Amarillo Civic Center.
