Odessa Jackalopes News Release

ODESSA, TX - The Odessa Jackalopes fell to the Shreveport Mudbugs 5-0 on Saturday evening at the Ector County Coliseum. The Jackalopes were forced to settle for a weekend split on the two game series after winning 3-2 on Friday night.

After a scoreless first period, the Mudbugs scored off a rebound in the mid stages of the second. The Jackalopes had several chances to score but failed to do so.

The third period came and the Jacks were down 1-0, but with a chance to tie the game. however, the Bugs took control of the contest with four unanswered goals, the latter two coming less then 45 seconds apart.

The rest of the period was marked by hits, fights and bad blood as tensions mounted. Odessa had three power plays in the third but failed to convert.

Despite settling for a weekend split and falling to 6-9-1-1 on the year, the Jackalopes showed heart toward the end and did not give up. They showed poise, and determination in trying to fight and claw back into the game, even to the final horn.

Nor did they back down from any physical challenge from Shreveport, giving as good as they got and giving fans a reason to get excited despite the score. The Jackalopes will have an off-week next week which will allow the team a chance to rest, recharge, and recuperate as they prepare for a three-game home series against the Corpus Christi IceRays on November 14,15 and 16.
