
Jacks Offense Scores Eight In Win Over Missouri

(Odessa, TX) - On the night that Missouri head coach, Scott Hillman, was inducted into the Jackalopes Franchise Hall of Fame, the Odessa offense put on a show with eight goals against the Mavericks at the Ector County Coliseum on Tuesday night. The final was 8-1.
Paul Kelly scored the first period's only goal, on a delayed penalty against Missouri, as his wrist shot between the circles beat Mike Gorman for his fourth goal of the season. Alex Dunn and Dominic Leveille added the assists. Odessa had the 1-0 advantage at the break.
In the second period Missouri's Jeff Christian knotted the game at 1-1 with his first goal of the season at 1:51. Bill Vandermeer and Andrew Davis added the assists. The Jacks responded with three unanswered goals. Collin Circelli made it 2-1 at 5:22 on assists from Sebastien Thinel and Mike Lesperance. At 14:51 Kory Karlander scored his first of the season for a two-goal cushion as Phil Plante and Leveille tallied the helpers. Less than two minutes later Circelli scored his second of the game and his sixth overall to make it a 4-1 lead favoring Odessa after two periods.
The Jackalopes kept the pressure on with four goals in the third period, including two shorthanded markers. Kory Karlander scored the first shorthanded goal at 11:39, and then Kenny Bernard scored the second shorthanded goal just :12 later. Paul Kelly and Alex Dunn added the final two goals to make it an 8-1 final. Dunn's goal was on the power play.
Circelli, Karlander, and Kelly each finished with a pair of goals in the game for Odessa - who reached the eight goal plateau for the second time this season.
Hillman was honored in a pregame ceremony on the ice. He played 446 games over an eight-year career for the Jackalopes.
