Odessa Jackalopes News Release


The Matchup: It's the final meeting of the regular season between Odessa and Corpus Christi. The Jackalopes are 6-1-1 against the IceRays this season and have outscored the Rays, 28-14. This will be the first meeting involving Corpus Christi's new head coach, Brent Hughes - who was hired on February 17th. The IceRays are tied with the Arizona Sundogs for the final playoff spot in the Southern Conference. After playing below-.500 hockey for the majority of the season, the Rays are 4-3-1 under Hughes.

Odessa Jackalopes - Last Game: The Jacks ended the 11-game win streak of the Mississippi Riverking on Sunday with a 3-2 victory. Odessa trailed entering the third period, but Sebastien Thinel tied the game with a power play goal, and then Mike Ramsay put the Jackalopes ahead for good with another power play goal at 7:59. It was just the second time this season Odessa won a game when trailing after two periods.

Corpus Christi IceRays - Last Game: The IceRays topped the Laredo Bucks, 4-1, in a divisional matchup. Justin Quenneville and Ryan Crane opened up the scoring with two first period, power play goals. Jereme Tendler and Adam Powell also added goals for the Rays, who built a 4-0 lead with 18:00 remaining in the third period.

The Last 10: In their last 10 games the Odessa Jackalopes are 5-4-1 and Corpus Christi is 5-4-1.

Bernard Heating Up: Kenny Bernard is on a six game point streak with two goals and six assists in that span.

A Pair of First Timers: In Odessa's win over Mississippi, Paul Kelly recorded his first goal in Jackalopes uniform since joining the team on March 6th (three games). Robby Spalding picked up the first point of his professional career with the assist on Kelly's goal.

Record Assists: With 50 assists on the season, Dominic Leveille is just five shy of tying, six of breaking, the Jackalopes single season record for assists in a season. Leveille already owns that record with 55 assists in 2005-2006.

Winning Combination: The Jackalopes are 27-6-4 when Sebastien Thinel and Dominic Leveille each register a point in a game.

Milestone Alert: Dominic Leveille is tied for fourth all-time in franchise history with 149 assists.
