KOKOMO, IND. - A set of five consecutive Prospect League road games awaits the Kokomo Jackrabbits this week.

Just a half-game behind Butler for first place on the PL's Eastern Division standings, the Jackrabbits (9-7), winners of seven of their last 10, host in-state rival Lafayette at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday, June 14. The road skein follows with a visit to Chillicothe Wednesday, June 15 (7:05 p.m. start); West Virginia Thursday and Friday, June 16 and 17 for twin 7:05 p.m. first pitches; Butler for a clash with the BlueSox Saturday, June 18 at 6:35 p.m. and back to Chillicothe to take on the Paints in a 6:05 p.m. first pitch.

PRINCESSES, SUPERHEROES PROMOTION WINDS DOWN: Tuesday's match-up with the Aviators concludes the current Princesses and Superheroes theme at Kokomo Municipal Stadium. It's also a special Baseball Moms and Dads Appreciation evening with all parents and their players, with an ID, admitted for a $5 dugout reserved ticket deal and $1 hot dog meal deal as well as being a two-for-one Backyard seats' night.

NEWS AND NOTES: Center fielder Lance Mays from East Tennessee State University tops the Gold and Brown's offense, hitting at a .316 clip. The mark has him just outside of the Prospect League's top 20. He's followed closely by Wayne State University's Griffin Harms (.311) and Indiana University - Southeast's and Kokomo native Logan Barnes (.300) ... On the mound, the duo of Lock Haven University's Mike Anthony and Ball State University's Nick Floyd is in the league's earned run average top 15 at 1.53 and 2.40, respectively. Their efforts are part of a staff that has the second-lowest team ERA (3.15), trailing only Danville (2.02) ... The Jackrabbits' franchise had plenty of reasons to celebrate June 11 despite a narrow 2-1 loss to DuPage. News of their first Major League Baseball draft selection came through early in the day, as 2015 PL All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Mark Zimmerman of Baldwin-Wallace was picked in the 33rd round by the San Diego Padres.
