JackHammers Fall to Fargo-Moorehead

JOLIET- The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (25-24) scored four runs over the 4th and 5th innings to beat the Joliet JackHammers 4-0 before 2,218 fans on Wednesday night.

The RedHawks scored two runs in the 4th inning against Joliet LHP Ryan Gehring (3-5). SS Zach Penprase (1-3) led off with a single and CF Nic Jackson (1-3) walked to push Penprase to second base.

3B Jeremiah Piepkorn (1-4) singled to score Penprase and LF Justin Justice (1-4) singled to score Jackson for a 2-0 RedHawks lead.

Fargo-Moorhead got some clutch two-out hitting in the 5th inning. RF Mike Coles (2-4) led off the inning with a single and stole second base. Penprase walked and Jackson, hit a two-run double to score both runners for a 4-0 Fargo-Moorhead lead.

Gehring lasted five innings and allowed four runs on seven hits. RHP Nate Sevier, just activated from the inactive list on Tuesday, tossed two scoreless innings and struck out four of the eight batters he faced. RHP Brian Reith worked the final two innings for the JackHammers.

Loose Gravel: Bowling Batter Carlo Cota of Fargo-Moorhead struck out in the 9th inning. That means everyone in the ballpark can use their ticket stub for a free game of bowling courtesy of Will County Bowling at any one of their member lanes throughout the area.

The JackHammers and RedHawks wrap up their series on Thursday morning at 11:05 a.m. It's a special Camp and Day Care Day at Silver Cross Field with a special early start. The RedHawks wills start RHP Aubrey Edens (0-0, 0.00) against Joliet RHP Jason Richardson (1-7, 5.70).
