June 8, 2006 - Northern League (NL)
Joliet JackHammers News Release

JOLIET-The Joliet JackHammers have added former Chicago baseball stars Carlos May and Mickey Morandini to finalize the Budweiser Legends Game Rosters on July 29 at Silver Cross Field. The American League and National League Legends teams will play against one another in a spectacular treat for Chicago baseball fans.

"This is really exciting for us," said JackHammers executive Vice President/General Manager Steve Malliet. "We tried very hard to get 'top-notch' players to fill out the roster. We definitely have that with this group."

The American League team features former Sox stars May and Bobby Thigpen. May played nine seasons with the Chicago White Sox from 1968-1977. May's best season on the south side came in 1973 when he hit 20 home runs and 96 RBIs. Thigpen started his career in Chicago in 1986. He quickly became a force in the bullpen, earning a career high 57 saves in the 1990 season. WJOL's Don Ladas will manage the American League team.

The National League team highlights former Cub Mickey Morandini. Morandini played two seasons for the Cubs, starting on the team that won the National League wild card and lost in the National League Division Series to the Atlanta Braves in 1998. He spent 12 years in the Major Leagues with the Philadelphia Phillies, Toronto Blue Jays, and Cubs. WJOL's Scott Slocum serves as the National League manager.
