Elmira Jackals News Release
Elmira, NY - The Elmira Jackals announced today that they have acquired the rights of forward Frank Littlejohn in a trade with the Quad City Mallards.
The Elmira Jackals have attained the rights to dynamic forward Frank Littlejohn from the Quad City Mallards. In exchange the Jackals sent Quad City the rights of defenseman Andrei Lupandin and forward Craig Macdonald.
Littlejohn, who split the 2005-06 season between the Missouri River Otters and Quad City, had 47 points (27 goals, 20 assists) and 170 PIMs in 63 games played. The 5'11", 195 lbs right wing was traded to the Mallards just prior to the UHL Trade Deadline last year and he had 12 points (5 goals, 7 assists) in just 14 games for his new club. Littlejohn helped Quad City go deep into the playoffs, before losing to Danbury in the Colonial Cup semifinals.
"Frankie plays with the grit and determination we want to see with our Jackals players," said General Manager Robbie S. Nichols. "He will definitely be a fan favorite because he possesses the ability to turn his level of play up a notch, especially at home. We look forward to signing Frank Littlejohn and officially making him an Elmira Jackal very soon."
Littlejohn has been a United Hockey League mainstay for the last seven years. He first came into the league in the 2000-01 season with the Adirondack IceHawks and became a well known opponent to Jackals fans. He spent five seasons with Adirondack before being traded to the Missouri River Otters two years ago. Arguably his best season was in 2004-05, split between Adirondack and Missouri, where he posted a career-high 60 points (33 goals, 27 assists) and 268 penalty minutes in 77 games played. In his 8-year professional career, Littlejohn has tallied some impressive numbers: 341 points (189 goals, 152 assists) and 1,633 penalty minutes in 489 games played.
"I am very excited about this trade because Frank is capable of putting up 70 points and 250 penalty minutes," said Jackals Head Coach Kris Waltze. "He is the type of player who is a pain to play against, but you would love to have on your team. His motivation and work ethic are also fantastic trademarks to the kind of player he is."
The Oshawa, Ontario native has been to the UHL playoffs on five separate occasions, with a post-season career of 9 points (6 goals, 3 assists) and 98 PIMs in 26 games played. In each of the last two years, Littejohn has helped his respective teams Missouri and Quad City reach the Colonial Cup Semifinals.
After completing their 6th season in franchise history in the UHL, the Jackals are gearing up for Season 7. Season tickets for the 2006-2007 UHL season are on sale now at the First Arena Box Office. For more information call 607-734-PUCK (7825).
