Elmira Jackals News Release

The Elmira Jackals will host their Sixth Annual Pro Placement camp Friday, Sept. 2 through Sunday, Sept. 4 at the First Arena Recreational Rink. Jackals fans are invited to attend the camp free of charge.

The camp offers hockey players an opportunity to compete for a spot at the Jackals' 2011-2012 training camp as well as a chance to be noticed by scouts from other minor-professional hockey leagues.

"This is a terrific opportunity for young hockey players to be noticed by teams throughout minor-pro hockey," Jackals general manager Robbie S. Nichols said. "It is also exciting for the Jackals and our fans because the camp signals the annual return of hockey to the Twin Tiers."

"I'm looking forward to seeing what these young players can do on the ice this weekend," Jackals head coach Pat Bingham said. "We're looking for players to show they can compete at a high level on a consistent basis, and the camp provides these men an opportunity to do just that."

The camp will showcase the abilities of over 60 hockey players from the United States, Canada, and as far away as Italy. Among the attendees is 43-year old goaltender Trevor Umlah, a double-lung transplant survivor who will be trying to fulfill a professional playing dream.
