Jackals Join New Division, Complete Trade with Greenville

Elmira Jackals News Release


The ECHL announced recently the realignment of its divisions, a decision reached at the Annual Board of Governors Meeting in Henderson, Nev. last week.

The Jackals will be part of the Atlantic Division, along with the Jackals' primary rivals, the Reading Royals and Trenton Devils. The ECHL renamed its two conferences from the American Conference and National Conference to the Eastern Conference and Western Conference at the meeting as well.

The format for the 2011 Kelly Cup Playoffs has yet to be announced by the league.

Atlantic Division (formerly East Division)

Elmira Jackals, Reading Royals, Trenton Devils

North Division

Cincinnati Cyclones, Kalamazoo Wings, Toledo Walleye, Wheeling Nailers

South Division

Florida Everblades, Hockey Greenville, Gwinnett Gladiators, South Carolina Stingrays

Western Conference

Mountain Division (formerly West Division)

Alaska Aces, Idaho Steelheads, Utah Grizzlies, Victoria Salmon Kings

DEADLINE DEAL COMPLETED

The Jackals announced Wednesday that they have sent forwards Brendan Connolly and Maxime Gratchev and defenseman Wes Cunningham to Greenville's ECHL team, currently operating as Hockey Greenville, completing a March trade that sent right winger Thomas Beauregard from the Johnstown Chiefs to the Jackals for future considerations.

Beauregard was a deadline acquisition for the Jackals, joining the team for 14 regular-season games and recording 10 points (5g-5a) as Elmira clinched its first ever ECHL division championship. Elmira sent right winger Bear Trapp to Johnstown as part of the initial deal. The Chiefs relocated to Greenville, S.C.after the 2009-2010 season.
