New Jersey Jackals News Release
Little Falls, NJ â Floyd Hall Enterprises, owners and operators of the New Jersey Jackals, announced today that Clyde H. Smoll has resigned as the club's General Manager. His wife, Charlene, will also leave her position on the ticket office staff.
"Even though their tenure was for just the 2004 season, the Smolls have left their mark on our organization. Their extensive professional sports experience and contributions this year has set a high standard for the future," said Larry Hall, Executive Vice President of Floyd Hall Enterprises.
Changing family circumstances in Pennsylvania has necessitated a move from the professional sports arena for the Smolls.
"The opportunity we have had to work for Floyd Hall Enterprises and the New Jersey Jackals has been the perfect ending to our sports careers. It's never easy to leave a career you love but this is the right decision for us at this time. We're going to miss our friends and co-workers, but we are grateful to Floyd Hall, Larry Hall, and Greg Lockard for giving us this opportunity to be part of their great organization," said Clyde, "and we wish the coaches, players, fans, and sponsors the very best in 2005."
The Smolls who are natives of Quakertown, Pennsylvania have spent the last 18 years working in professional sports, initially as principal owners of the Elmira Pioneers, Class-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, of the New York-Penn League. They eventually moved the team to Lowell, MA and created the Lowell Spinners. In 1997, the Smolls sold the Spinners and spent the next 7+ years working in professional hockey, basketball and baseball before coming to the Jackals in Spring of 2004.
