
Jackals dominate Sussex

Little Falls, NJ: The New Jersey Jackals made it 18 consecutive innings pitched without allowing a run against Sussex, with a complete 11-0 domination of the Skyhawks in Augusta, NJ.
The Jackals scored single runs in the second, third and fourth to open up a 3-0 lead over the Skyhawks. Zack Smithlin reached on an error allowing Ricardo Cordova to plate, in the third, a Jason Belcher RBI single that did the damage, and Mike Nesbit reached on an infield single in the fourth, allowing Tuttle to score.
New Jersey opened up the ballgame a bit more in the top of the fifth, with a two out rally. With the bases loaded, Wilton Veras singled through the left side of the infield, scoring Smithlin and Tuttle. Through six complete, the Jackals held a 5-0 advantage.
They made it 8-0 in the eighth. Nesbit collected his second RBI via a single, while reliever Dave Campos walked both John Lindsey and Jason Belcher with the bases loaded, scoring a pair.
In the ninth, the blowout continued with the Jackals adding three more runs. Two of the runs came on an RBI double by Lindsey.
Smithlin also finished with four stolen bases for the Jackals.
John Kelly was superb, while picking up the win. Kelly pitched seven scoreless innings. He scattered nine hits, walked three, and struck out seven.
