Odessa Jackalopes News Release

ODESSA, TEXAS - The Odessa Jackalopes, members of the North American Hockey League, are proud to announce forward Chad Guderian has been named captain and Ian Manfield (Army), Jesse Junttila (Northern Michigan), and Andrew McLean have been named alternate captains for the 2014-15 season.

Guderian, a Coppell, TX native, is in his second year with the Jackalopes after an eight goal and eight assist season in 2013-14. Guderian also showed durability and perseverance by playing in 59 of 60 regular season games last season.

"After completing the leadership training course during Navy Seal camp, Chad Guderian was far and away rated the highest by his peers and staff," said Jacks head coach Greg Gatto. "We all think very highly of Chad and his leadership on and off the ice."

"With the alternates, I think it says a lot about Jesse (Junttila) that his peers would vote him alternate captain in his first year with us. Manny (Ian Mansfield) provides us with similar leadership qualities that Chad does. He's quiet, but works his tail off on and off the ice. I would say McLean is the most vocal of our captains"

Gatto also reveled in the fact that there were a few other players that could have worn the captain's letter on this team, which will not.

"I really like our leadership group," said Gatto. "However, it's not just those four guys. It is guys like (Alex) Alger, Razmuz (Waxin-Engback), (Matt) Beranek, (Tyler) Nabozny that we are going to look to provide leadership as well because they have been there before and know what it takes to perform at this level," finished Gatto.

The Jacks four captains and the rest of the team will be put to the test on Saturday night in Wichita Falls. Join the voice of the Jacks, Joey Battaino on the call at 6:50 PM CT on Classic Rock 102.1 FM KFZX and on PPV FASTHockey.com.

In 2014-15, the Odessa Jackalopes will embark upon their fourth season in the North American Hockey League and 18th in the Permian Basin. Season tickets are on sale now!
