Mississauga St. Michael's Majors News Release

TORONTO, ON (March 23, 2006) - It was 205 days ago, on August 31st, that the Majors gathered together for their 1st day of training camp. Now, the real fun begins as they engage in the opening game of their Eastern Conference Quarter-Final playoff series against the Barrie Colts tonight. Puck drop takes place at 7:30 pm at the Barrie Molson Centre.

These two squads don't like each other very much and ended the 2005-06 regular season on Sunday by engaging in a hard-fought tilt at the St. Michael's College School Arena that saw Barrie's top scorer, Bryan Little, get helped off the ice on a stretcher during the 3rd period. The Colts went on to win that game 5-3 and beat the Majors 5-out-of-6 times this season.

The only time these Central Division rivals have met in the playoffs was in 2002 when the Colts swept a Majors squad decimated by injuries in the Eastern Conference Final. That year, the Majors came in as the top seed while the Colts were ranked 3rd. This time around, the Majors are 6th while the Colts are 3rd.

Here's how the series will unfold:

Game 1 - Thursday, March 23rd @ Barrie (7:30 pm)
Game 2 - Friday, March 24th vs. Barrie (7:30 pm)
Game 3 - Sunday, March 26th @ Barrie (6:00 pm)
Game 4 - Tuesday, March 28th vs. Barrie (7:30 pm)
Game 5 - Thursday, March 30th @ Barrie (7:30 pm) - if necessary
Game 6 - Sunday, April 2nd vs. Barrie (2:00 pm) - if necessary
Game 7 - Monday, April 3rd @ Barrie (7:30 pm) - if necessary

Rogers television will broadcast the entire series in Toronto, on channel 10 or 63. All of the games will also be webcast at www.stmichaelsmajors.com.

Tickets for the Majors home games can be purchased by calling the team's office at (416) 651-8228, by contacting Ticketmaster at (416) 872-5000 or online at www.ticketmaster.ca, or by stopping by the St. Michael's College School Arena box office within two hours of the puck drop.
