August 20, 2010 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Orange County Flyers News Release
The Orange County Flyers face the Yuma Scorpions tonight in the second game of a three-game series at Goodwin Field in Fullerton with first pitch at 6:05pm. Tonight the Flyers are giving away bobbleheads featuring KFI radio personality John Kobylt, and KFI's "John & Ken Show" will be live from the ballpark starting at 2pm. The bobblehead giveaway will begin when the gates open at 2pm to the first 500 ticketholders.
Tonight's game is a rare double-giveaway promotion with special Flyers dry-fit T-shirts for the first 500 fans as well. Orange County is currently 42-28 on the season (20-5 in the second half) and is trying to put distance between itself and Yuma, Tucson and Tijuana to secure the remaining South Division playoff spot.
The Flyers are coming off a 8-0 win over Yuma on Thursday in which three pitchers combined to match the franchise record of 17 strikeouts in a game. Starting pitcher Manny Ayala tossed a career-high 12 strikeouts over seven scoreless innings. Former NL All-Star Mark Prior struck out the side in the 8th inning, and Andre Simpson fanned two more in a 1-2-3 9th inning. Tyler Keeble led the offense, going 3-for-4 with a solo homerun and an RBI-double. Sergio Pedroza blasted his team-leading 11th homerun in the win.
Orange County is in its final regular-season homestand, and tickets for all games are still available by going to the team's website www.OrangeCountyFlyers.com or by calling (714) 526-8326 to reserve a seat.
