"Dominic is a big, strong kid that will join the Sweets just after his junior season, bringing experience to the team," said Sweets manager Frank Mutz. "His power is starting to emerge as he matures and he's a steady defender. He should be an exciting player to watch this summer."

Sam Hellinger, a sophomore at College of San Mateo, is a 6-foot 1-inch, 180-pound right-handed pitcher. Hellinger, a native of Seattle, Washington was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in 2013 before deciding to attend college. As a freshman at San Mateo, Hellinger was 5-2 with 41 strikeouts in 66.1 innings pitched.

"Sam is solid on the mound with a good fastball, and breaking stuff that should help him compete in the WCL," added Mutz "He's not a guy that's going to overpower anyone, but he locates extremely well and is very durable."
