Mississippi Surge News Release
A well played hockey game is like a masterpiece and the Mississippi Surge took some time Saturday to help youngsters creat their own masterpieces at the Ohr-O'Keefe Museum of Art.
One day after the Surge beat Augusta 4-2, the Surge visited the Ohr-O'Keefe museum to help kids, and create their own Mardi Gras masks. The masks will be on display at the Biloxi Library at 580 Howard Street from January 29th through February 18th. After that, the masks will be returned to the children who created them.
"This was a great day and it was fantastic for the Surge players to come out and work with the kids," Stacey Johnson of the museum staff said. "These masks came out great and will make quite the colorful display at the library."
"After a hard fought game last night, it was good for our guys to get out and have some fun," coach Jeff Bes said. "Some of our guys did some pretty nice masks. And some of them, well...." he added with a laugh.
The Surge resumes action Friday at Fayetteville. The next home game is Tuesday, January 24th at 7:05 p.m. against the Pensacola Ice Flyers.
