IronPigs Game Notes

July 29, 2012 - International League (IL1)
Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release

Due to a rainout on June 12, the IronPigs (58-50) play a doubleheader (Games Two and Three) of a five-game series against the last-place Syracuse Chiefs (51-56) at Alliance Bank Stadium... With a 6-4 loss last night, the Pigs have now dropped eight of their last 12 contests and have gone just 8-15 in their last 23 games --- going from a season-high 3.0-games up to 2.5-games back in the North... The Chiefs -- Washington's top affiliate -- have won four of the last five games and are 7-4 in their last 11 affairs after losing nine straight games July 5-17. In fact, since climbing to 43-38 on June 28, Syracuse is just 8-18 since.

In Game One, RHP B.J. Rosenberg (3-2, 1.68) will start for LHV against LHP John Lannan (6-9, 4.89).

In Game Two, RHP Brian Sanches (3-1, 2.21) is expected to start for LHV against RHP Tanner Roark (5-12, 5.19).

First-pitch of Game One is at 3 p.m.

DOUBLE YOUR PLEASURE?:

The Pigs will play in their 7th* doubleheader this season -- entering with a record of 8-4 in DH games in 2012 (*includes "day-night" DH on 7/1 vs. PAW)... The Pigs swept their last DH on Friday, 7/27 vs. NOR (3-0, 5-4) -- marking their 5th all-time DH sweep in 24 tries (prior to 7/1 vs. PAW, they hadn't had a sweep since 9/4/09 vs. BUF -- going 13 DH without one)... LHV has split its other 4 DH this season... Last season, the Pigs managed just a 5-9 record in DH and are 22-30 all-time (2-2 in "Day-Night" DH games).

* The Pigs have never swept a road doubleheader... This is SYR's 6th DH this season, and the Chiefs have gone 7-3 so far.
