May 6, 2012 - International League (IL1)
Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
The IronPigs (16-12) play the finale of a two-game series against the Syracuse Chiefs (10-19) at Coca-Cola Park... With a 4-1 win last night, the Pigs are a perfect 4-0 against Syracuse and have won six in a row over the Chiefs going back to last season. Lehigh Valley also improved to 5-6 on this 13-game* "homestand" (*which now won't be complete until May 24)... The Chiefs -- Washington's top affiliate -- have lost four straight games, with the first three losses at Buffalo (they've previously had losing streaks of six and four games). Prior to this recent skid, the Chiefs had won seven of nine affairs after starting 3-13... The Pigs will bus through the night and start an eight-game West Division road trip with Game One of a four-game series at Indianapolis tomorrow.
RHP Scott Elarton (2-1, 3.51) will start for LHV against LHP John Lannan (2-2, 5.19).
Today is 5th Anniversary Logo Baseball Giveaway Day, presented by National MS Society. First-Pitch is set for 1:35 p.m.
WITH A WIN TODAY, THE PIGS WILL...:
* Sweep the 2-G series against SYR -- giving them their 4th sweep of the season (2nd vs. SYR) and first since 4/14-4/15 vs. ROC
* Move the Pigs to 151-152 all-time at home -- one win away from getting to .500 at Cola-Cola Park for the first time in history.
