
Ironmen Offense Rallies Late to Win in Extras

(Slippery Rock, PA)- It took 7 innings for the Ironmen offense to arrive at Jack Chritchfield Stadium in Slippery Rock, but it arrived just in time. Trailing the Sliders 2-0 in the top of the 7th inning, the Ironmen scored a run in the 7th and a run in the 8th to send the game to extra innings before winning in the 10th inning, 3-2.
In the top of the 10th inning, Michael Burke singled with 1 out down the right field line. Andrew Kubuski followed with a walk. Sam Alvis then singled home Burke with the game winning run.
Dan Poskocil worked the 8th and 9th innings for his 3rd win of the season. Poskocil struck out 4 of the 6 batters he faced. Cameron Palmer picked up his 4th save of the season. Jeff Cola made a diving catch on the warning track to end the game with the tying run on 2nd base and the winning run on 1st base.
Sean Blackburn started for Lorain County. He went 6 innings. He allowed 7 hits and 2 earned runs. Blackburn walked 1 and struck out 2.
The Ironmen tied the game in the 8th inning. Steel Russell lead the inning off with a single to right field. Burke then sacrificed him to second base. Russell took a wide turn around second drawing a throw behind him from the first basemen, Fred Ford. Ford's throw was wild and went into leftfield allowing Russell to advance to 3rd. Nolan Neuschaefer pinch ran for Russell and scored on a fielder's choice from Kubuski.
The Ironmen are now a perfect 3-0 in extra inning games this season. The win coupled with a loss by the Butler Blue Sox moves the Ironmen back into 2nd place in the Eastern Division of the Prospect League.
Lorain County is back at Slippery Rock Monday for a 7:05pm start. Andrew Revello will start for the Ironmen. The team will return to the Pipe Yard on Wednesday night for a 7:05 game against Slippery Rock.
