
Ironmen Offense Awakens in 9-2 Victory

(Butler, PA)- During their four game losing streak, the Ironmen have been waiting for their #1 ranked offense to break out of its funk. Well, consider the funk broken. The Ironmen pounded out 15 hits on Sunday evening to beat the Butler Blue Sox 9-2 at Pullman Park in Butler, PA.
It took 5 innings for the offense to find its groove again, but in the 5th they erupted for 5 runs on 6 hits. Steel Russell and Nate Tomaszewski started the inning with back to back singles. Andrew Kubuski singled home Russell to tie the game at 1. James DiBiasio then stepped to the plate and singled to send Tomaszewski across the plate. Sam Alvis then delivered his first of 2 RBI with another single. Alvis now leads the team with 24 RBI. Zak Blair finished the scoring with a two run double to right field.
The Ironmen then added 4 more runs in the top of the 9th inning to blow the game open.
Ben Bokor stated for the Ironmen and earned his 1st win of the season. He went 6 innings allowing only 5 hits and 2 runs, 1 earned. He walked 5 and struck out 2. Michael Clarke, Danny Poskocil and Sam Alvis followed in relief to close out the game and the first half of the season with a 15-14 record. Poskocil pushed his scoreless and walk-less innings pitched streak to 20 innings.
The Ironmen will return home Monday night to take on the Chillicothe Paints on the 4th of July. First pitch is set for 7:05 with a big fireworks celebrations to follow.
