
Ironmen get offensive; Club takes home 21-14 win over Detroit Ignition

(Southfield, Mich., November 11, 2007) - The Detroit Ignition (2-1) fell to the expansion New Jersey Ironmen (2-1) tonight at Compuware Arena in Plymouth, MI. The contest was the first of four regular-season match-ups between the two clubs, with the next meeting being on December 1 in New Jersey.
Ignition midfielder Ricardinho scored the first points of the contest with a two-point shot off an assist from Hewerton at 7:57 in the first quarter (2-0). Ironmen forward Daniel Antoniuk responded at 10:23 in the period with a two-point score to tie the clubs up at 2 (2-2).
The Ironmen controlled the second quarter as Stefan Stokic, Frederico Moojen and Lazo Alavanja all notched goals to give New Jersey a seven point lead over the Ignition (9-2).
New Jersey struck again in the third period as midfielder Juninho da Silva scored a three-point goal at 9:49 (12-2). Ignition forward Worteh Sampson registered two points for Detroit at 11:44 in the third with an assist from forward Jamar Beasley (12-4). The Ironmen responded as Kevin Sloan and Antoniuk both notched two-point goals to bring the score to 16-4 going into the final period.
Ricardinho scored his second goal of the night on a penalty kick at 1:23 in the fourth quarter to bring the Ignition within ten points of the Ironmen (16-6). Sloan scored again at 5:24, putting an unassisted two point goal past Ignition keeper Danny Waltman (18-6). At 9:15, Ricardinho scored two more points for the Ignition on a power play with an assist from Hewerton (18-8).
With 5:28 to play, Detroit brought Ricardinho in as the sixth attacker. At 11:10, Stokic took advantage of the open net and scored another three points for the Ironmen (21-8). Jamar Beasley and Mike Apple notched six more points for the Ignition as time expired, but the comeback wasn't enough to overtake the Ironmen who won the contest 21-14.
