NEWARK, NJ-The New Jersey Ironmen (1-1) traveled north today for a tough contest with the 2007 MISL runners-up, the Detroit Ignition (2-0). The game, which is the third in a four-game road swing to start the season, is slated for a 4:35 p.m. EST kickoff.

"I'm looking to see improved play in every department of the game," Ironmen Head Coach and Vice President of Soccer Operations Omid Namazi stated. "We must minimize Detroit's chances to get opportunities, and we must capitalize on any opportunities that we create."

The Ironmen nearly played an extra half of soccer last Saturday in a heart breaking 10-8 double overtime loss to the Milwaukee Wave. Coach Namazi felt that the extended play would actually benefit the team.

"We played an established team to two overtimes," he commented. "Even though we lost, that will give us a mental boost. We have had time to physically recover and prepare for Detroit."

Veteran MISL player and Ironmen player/coach Kevin Sloan shared the same sentiment as Coach Namazi.

"Even though we left Milwaukee with a loss, we now know that we can play with any team in this league," he said. "We have a strong, skillful and athletic team, and we know that we are only inferior in terms of game experience."

Ironmen forward Daniel Antoniuk, the club leader in points (7), also left Milwaukee with a positive mindset.

"We just need to break down our mistakes and learn from them," he remarked. "When we play entirely to our potential, we know we'll be hard to stop."

The Ironmen will again face the Ignition in their home debut on Saturday, December 1st, at Prudential Center in the Downtown Core Redevelopment District of Newark.

Joining the Ironmen as an honorary captain for the historical outing will be soccer legend Pelé. Ticket lines are open now for season, individual and group ticket packages. Do not miss your chance to see Pelé help kick off the Ironmen's home slate on December 1st! Call 1-800-IRONMEN today to secure your place in New Jersey Ironmen history!
