
Ironmen Fall to Sliders

(Slippery Rock, PA)- Kevin Hughes started for the Ironmen on Tuesday and struck out a team high 9 batters, but was unable to record a league best 4th win. The Ironmen, who were going for a three game road sweep at Slippery Rock were unable to mount a third straight last at bat win and lost to the Sliders 4-3.
The Prospect League's second best offense continued to pound out the hits despite the loss. Steel Russell, Nate Antone, Sam Alvis, and Zak Blair all had multi hit performances in helping the Ironmen tally 11 hits in the ball game. Alvis was 2-4 and hit his second home run of the season, a solo homer in the 6th.
Hughes was solid today. He went 6.1 innings. Kevin allowed 4 hits, 3 runs, 1 earned. He walked 2, hit 4 batters and struck out 9. Shane Sullivan came in in relief and allowed a run while walking none and striking out 1.
The Ironmen return to the Pipe Yard to take on the Slippery Rock Sliders again on Wednesday night at 7:05.
