Calgary Stampeders News Release

The Calgary Stampeders and linebacker Alvin Bowen are proud to team up with Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary and Supreme Basics to introduce Bowen's Buddies.

Through this program, eight children and youth from Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary will be the special guests of Bowen at every Stampeders home game in 2014.

"I've enjoyed working at Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary ever since I joined the Stampeders," said Bowen. "The organization and their people do tremendous work and I'm so proud to be involved with them through the launch of Bowen's Buddies and to have the opportunity to do this.

"I can't thank Supreme Basics enough for supporting us. Together, I know we can do a lot of good things in the community."

Thanks to Supreme Basics' financial contributions and their support of the program, each of the young fans will receive not only a game ticket but also a cap and T-shirt as well as the opportunity to visit with Bowen and his teammates after the game. Bowen will also be planning and accompanying club members on several field trips.

"The Stampeders are extremely proud of Alvin and the Bowen's Buddies program," said Stampeders president Gordon Norrie. "We commend Alvin for his desire to give back to the community and are very pleased to support such a wonderful program as Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary.

"The Stampeders also thank Supreme Basics for coming on board to support the program. The company is well known for its community-mindedness and has an excellent track record of supporting youth causes. We sincerely thank Supreme Basics for coming through again."

For 75 years, Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary has been addressing the issues of lifelong health, and social and life skill development associated with vulnerable children and youth. BGCC's mission is to provide a safe, supportive place where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop confidence and skills for life.
