Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
(East Lake, OH) â The Intimidators could not take advantage of Andrew Fryson's solid start dropping game one of the series with Lake County 4-3 in East Lake, OH.
Fryson, in a spot start, gave Kannapolis five innings allowing two runs on three hits with out issuing a walk and striking out one.
The Intimidators started off hot scoring in the first inning of Indian's pitcher Jason Bere, who started for Lake County (22-12) on a rehab assignment. Anthony Webster, 4-5 2 runs, led off the inning with a single followed by a Pedro Lopez single. With two outs, Darren Ciraco single din Webster giving the Intimidators a 1-0 lead.
The teams traded runs until the top of the fourth when Intimidators (17-16) first baseman Julio Reyes (2) took Bere deep for his second home run of the season and put Kannapolis ahead 3-2.
Bere pitched four innings giving up all three runs on seven hits and striking out one but did not factor in the decision.
Lake County's Dan Eisentrager (3-1) took over Bere to start the fifth inning and silenced the Intimidators bats allowing three hits and striking out six for his third win. Shea Douglas (5) closed out the game for his fifth save.
With one out and a man on first, Jason Cooper hit a home run off Intimidators reliever Armando Perez (1-1) to capture the lead in the sixth. Perez tossed two innings surrendering two runs on runs on two hits.
Game two of the series is Thursday night at East Lake Ballpark in East Lake, Ohio. Clemson's B.J. LaMura is scheduled to start for the Intimidators against Jake Dittler. First pitch is 7:05pm.
