Internationalz Making Great Strides In Community
November 7, 2007 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
NYC Internationalz News Release
New York City, NY. Since the announcement of the ABA NYC Internationalz professional basketball team scheduled to begin play in 2008, team owners Harvey Li and Anwar Sharhan have been making great strides in the community, working arduously to form alliances and volunteer efforts throughout New York City.
The Internationalz have already started lending their hands to help others, by agreeing to volunteer with the Bowery Mission, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of New York City, Junior Achievements of New York City, the Veterans Association, and many other emergent community groups.
The NYC Internationalz are a proud sponsor of the Veteran's Association at Brooklyn College (CUNY) for the Veteran's Luncheon taking place Thursday, November 8th at Brooklyn College; co-sponsored by Barnes & Noble and Caricom. In addition to proudly sponsoring this event, the NYC Internationalz have also been invited to and will be a part of this Sunday's annual Veteran's Day Parade, November 11th. According to Anwar Sharhan, co-owner, "We are proud to represent the ABA in saluting our soldiers and will be offering special discounts prior to and throughout our inaugural season for veterans and current military and their families. And we've only just begun." For more information, email nycinternationalz@gmail.com or visit www.abalive.com.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams. For information on professional minor leagues, please see OSC's basketball section.
