Palm Beach Cardinals News Release
Palm Beach Cardinals pitcher Inohan Paniagua has been named the St. Louis Cardinals Minor League Pitcher of the Month for June!
The 22-year-old right-handed arm turned in five starts over the month, going 4-1 with a 2.18 earned run average. Three of his five appearances lasted seven innings, with the other three lasting six frames, for a total of 33.0 innings pitched in June. During that stretch, the native of Bonao, Dominican Republic held opposing batters to a paltry .174 batting average and 0.82 walks and hits per inning.
As of July 4th, Paniagua leads the Florida State League in ERA (2.33), strikeouts (91) and innings pitched (81.0) in 2022. The second-year Beach Bird also placed second in WHIP (1.07), is tied for second in wins (5), and third in opponent batting average (.216) over the course of the season.
St. Louis signed Paniagua as an international free agent during the 2017-18 offseason. He made his professional debut in 2018 in the Dominican Summer League before making two with the Class-A Short Season State College Spikes a season later. Paniagua spent all of 2021 with Palm Beach.
Fans looking to catch a glimpse of Paniagua won't have to wait long, as the righty is slated to start Palm Beach's July 4th game against the Jupiter Hammerheads. The Cardinals will be the visiting team against their in-stadium rivals.
