Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
HICKORY, NC - Greg Infante fired seven strong innings to help the Intimidators to a 7-3 win over Hickory on Sunday afternoon at L.P. Frans Stadium.
The Kannapolis right-hander picked up his first win since early May, allowing just three hits over his seven innings on the bump. Infante (3-5) gave up a pair of runs while striking out seven without walking a batter.
Infante got the help of his offense, as Kannapolis (2-2, 39-35) posted 16 hits for the second straight game. Jose Vargas' three-run home run with two outs in the fifth inning gave the Intimidators a five-run cushion-plenty for Infante to work with.
Garrett Johnson worked the last two innings, giving up one run on five hits.
Justin Greene was the Intimidators only batter who failed to find base with a hit, going 0-for-5 to see his South Atlantic League-best hitting streak come to an end at 20 games.
Jake Brigham (2-5) took the loss in the start for Hickory (2-2, 35-38). The 21-year-old right-hander gave up all seven runs in 4 2/3 innings on the mound.
