INDIANAPOLIS - Indy Eleven Professional Soccer has partnered with the American Red Cross to host the "Bleed for Your Team" blood drive on July 24. The event makes the second year in a row that Indy Eleven has worked with the American Red Cross to raise blood.

"Indy Eleven is proud to partner with the American Red Cross for our upcoming event - Bleed For Your Team," Indy Eleven Community Relations Manager Danielle Wooding said. "The Red Cross is facing a critical blood shortage and as members of the Indianapolis community, we should do everything in our power to contribute."

The drive will feature appearances from Indy Eleven players, free arcade games courtesy of Incrediplex, and face painting stations. Local soccer clubs from the North side of Indianapolis are competing to donate the most blood, and the winning club will be honored at half time of the August 15 match.

"The need for blood doesn't take a summer break, as people often do," said Sandra Ryden, Recruitment Account Manager for the Red Cross. "That's why summer blood donations are critically important."

The American Red Cross supplies nearly 40 percent of the nation's blood but only 10 percent of those eligible to donate blood do so, making it even more crucial that participation at Bleed For Your Team is as high as possible.
