Indiana Fever News Release
NEWS & NOTES
- Tickets for the Fever's first playoff home game are on sale now at the Conseco Fieldhouse Box Office. Tickets can also be purchased at all Ticketmaster outlets, via the Internet (Ticketmaster.com or ConsecoFieldhouse.com) or by phone at (877) WNBA-TIX. Indiana's first home playoff game will be a McDonald's Family Night presented by The Indianapolis Star. A minimum purchase of four game tickets is required. With each ticket purchased, fans will receive a voucher redeemable for a free hot dog, chips, a soft drink and a T-shirt.
- With her team-high 16 points against the Connecticut Sun at Conseco Fieldhouse, August 9, Tamika Whitmore went over the 500-point mark for the season. With her 528 points in 2006, she is just the second player in Fever history (along with Tamika Catchings) to score 500 or more points in a single season.
- The Fever set a WNBA record with 355 total steals in 2006, topping the previous record of 343 set by the Phoenix Mercury in 28 games in 1997. Indiana led the WNBA with an average of 10.44 spg this season and had 10 or more thefts in each of the last six games.
- Indiana's 19-point win at Connecticut, August 11, was the largest loss ever for the Sun on its home floor and was just the team's third home loss all season.
- That win at Mohegan Sun Arena was the Fever's franchise record ninth on the road this season. The Fever was one of five teams in the WNBA to have finished the campaign with a winning road record. That win was also the team's fourth of August, extending its streak of months with a record of at least .500 to eight in a row. Prior to the start of the 2005 season, Indiana totaled five months with records at, or above, .500 in its first five seasons.
- Tamika Catchings and Tully Bevilaqua registered 165 steals between them this season. That is a WNBA record for most steals by two teammates. The old record was held by Sheryl Swoopes and Kim Perrot of Houston in 1998. Catchings had 94 steals on the season, tying the club record she set in 2002 and six short of the most in WNBA history by Teresa Weatherspoon in 1998.
- In 2006, Tamika Catchings was the first Fever player to ever attempt 200+ free throws in a season and she also set the franchise record with 165 free throws made.
- Doing so for the second time in her career, Catchings was the only player in the league in 2006 to lead her team in scoring (16.3 ppg), rebounding (7.5 rpg), assists (3.7 apg), steals (2.94 spg) and blocked shots (1.09 bpg). She is the only player in league history to accomplish this feat. As a matter of perspective, only three players in NBA history (Kevin Garnett, Scottie Pippen and Dave Cowens) have led their teams in all five categories in the same season.

QUOTABLE QUOTES
Fever Head Coach Brian Winters on the upcoming playoff series with Detroit:
