Cedar Rapids RoughRiders News Release

Cedar Rapids, Iowa- Ben Albertson scored two third period goals- including the game tier with just 25 seconds left in regulation- as the Indiana Ice erased a 2-0 deficit and went on to claim a 3-2 shootout win over the host RoughRiders Tuesday night.

The Ice outscored the Riders 3-0 in the shootout as Albertson, Shane Berschbach and Chris Stafne all converted their chances while at the other end Indiana goaltender Brett Bennett stopped all three Cedar Rapids penalty shots. The Riders did earn one point for the shootout loss.

Bennett had been pulled for an extra attacker when Albertson forced what would prove to be a scoreless five minute overtime by sweeping the puck home the slot with less than half a minute left in the third period.

Albertson got the Ice on the scoreboard for the first time when he buried a rebound just 68 seconds into the third.

The Riders scored single goals in each of the first two periods. Cedar Rapids first jumped in front when Jeff Costello shoveled a rebound home at 4:38 of the opening period. At 18:25 of the second Eric Robinson roofed a Robin Bergman centering pass to double the lead.
