
Independent Panel and MLS Disciplinary Committee Decisions Announced

NEW YORK - The Independent Panel, consisting of one representative from the United States Soccer Federation, one representative from the Canadian Soccer Association, and one representative nominated by the Professional Referee Organization, has denied Orlando City SC's appeal of the red card issued to midfielder Cristian Higuita for violent conduct in the 54th minute of Orlando's match against D.C. United on August 12 (VIDEO).
Higuita will serve his red-card suspension in Orlando City's next regular season match on August 24 against Atlanta United.
The Independent Panel has also denied FC Dallas' appeal of the red card issued to defender Reto Ziegler for violent conduct during the 90+ minute of Dallas's match against Seattle Sounders FC on August 12 (VIDEO).
Ziegler will serve his red card suspension in FC Dallas' next regular season match on August 18 against Minnesota United FC.
Each club is entitled to two unsuccessful appeals per season, including playoffs. Both FC Dallas and Orlando City SC have one unsuccessful appeal remaining for the 2018 season.
MLS Disciplinary Committee Decisions
NEW YORK - The MLS Disciplinary Committee has found both the Colorado Rapids and the San Jose Earthquakes in violation of the Mass Confrontation Policy during the 87th minute of the teams' match on August 11 (VIDEO ). The Colorado Rapids and head coach Anthony Hudson have been issued undisclosed fines for the club's second violation of the League's policy this season. Rapids midfielder Jack Price has been issued an undisclosed fine for his role instigating and escalating a mass confrontation. The San Jose Earthquakes have been issued a warning for the club's first violation of the League's policy this season.
Orlando City SC midfielder Cristian Higuita has been issued an undisclosed fine for failure to leave the field in a timely and orderly manner during the 55th minute of Orlando's match against D.C. United on August 12 (VIDEO).
FC Dallas defender Reto Ziegler has been issued an undisclosed fine for failure to leave the field in a timely and orderly manner during the 90+ minute of Dallas' match against Seattle Sounders FC on August 12 (VIDEO).
The MLS Disciplinary Committee has found both FC Dallas and Seattle Sounders FC in violation of the Mass Confrontation Policy after the teams' match on August 12 (VIDEO). Both clubs will be issued a warning for their first violation during the 2018 MLS Regular Season.
