Impact protest tonight's game

Montreal Impact News Release
MONTREAL - The Montreal Impact has placed tonight's game at Saputo Stadium against the Rochester Rhinos under protest, on account of a suspension that has not yet been served by Rhinos midfielder Andrew Gregor. To this effect an official letter has been sent to the United Soccer Leagues (USL) earlier today.
Gregor has accumulated five yellow cards. According to league rules, a player having accumulated a total of five cards is automatically suspended for one game. The league had advised the Rochester Rhinos that Andrew Gregor had to serve a suspension during the August 10 game against Puerto Rico. Notwithstanding this decision, Gregor was on the lineup during this game. The league thereafter confirmed that he had to be suspended for the August 13 match against Montreal.
After Rochester filed an appeal, the league finally decided to allow Gregor to play the game, despite its initial decision.
"We would like to reiterate that this issue is not up for appeal," said Montreal Impact technical director Nick De Santis. "With five yellow cards, it is an automatic one-game suspension and the player has not served it yet. We simply cannot accept that the league would let Andrew Gregor play tonight and this is why we will play this match under protest."
By bringing light to this situation, the Montreal Impact wishes to reiterate that official USL rules have established measures that are mandatory and not subject to debate regarding players who exceed the number of cautions allowed.
