
Whitecaps Release Djekanovic and Webb Brothers

VANCOUVER, BC - Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced today that goalkeeper Srdjan Djekanovic, midfielder Mason Webb, and striker Nick Webb have been released by the club.
Djekanovic, 25, signed with the Whitecaps on February 28 after playing the 2007 season with Toronto FC of Major League Soccer. Djekanovic played in seven matches for Vancouver, posting a record of three wins, two losses and two ties.
Mason and Nick Webb, 22-year-old twins, joined Vancouver on February 27 after finishing their college careers at Oregon State University. Mason played in two regular season matches for 23 minutes, while Nick saw action in four regular season matches for 40 minutes with the Whitecaps first team. Mason and Nick also played in five regular season and three playoff matches for the Whitecaps United Soccer Leagues (USL) Premier Development League side this summer.
The Whitecaps next match is this Sunday, August 17, when the USL First Division leaders Puerto Rico Islanders make their lone regular season visit of 2008 to Swangard Stadium.
