IHL Announces Weekly Honors For Week Six

ROCHESTER, MI--- The International Hockey League (IHL) announced Monday that Kalamazoo right wing Mark Nebus has been named the Pepsi IHL Player of the Week, Kalamazoo center Tommy Lange has been named the Aquafina IHL Rookie of the Week, and Kalamazoo goaltender Jason Tapp has been named the Southern Sports Supply IHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, November 23rd, 2008.

Nebus had a stellar week for the K-Wings, scoring a total of six goals and two assists with a plus/minus rating of plus-eight in four games played. He registered his first professional hat trick Sunday, scoring a total of five goals on six shots in the 6-1 win over his former team, the Icehawks. The five goal outburst from Nebus tied a K-Wings franchise record for goals in a game. The 26-year-old South Lyon, Michigan native is currently tied for the best plus/minus rating among the K-Wings with teammate Rick Cleaver with plus-nine and is third in scoring with 13 points (9g, 4a).

Other players nominated for the Pepsi IHL Player of the Week include: Bloomington left wing Adam Tomkow, Flint forward John DiPace, Fort Wayne center Colin Chaulk, Muskegon left wing Luke Stauffacher and Port Huron left wing Jeff Zehr.

Lange completed the sixth week of his rookie season posting a total of seven points (3g, 4a) and a plus/minus rating of plus-seven in four games played. He scored six of his seven points versus Port Huron, notching in two goals and four assists in two games against the Icehawks. Lange's four assist game Sunday tied a K-Wings season-high in a single game. The 21-year-old St. Louis, Missouri native is tied for third among IHL rookies in scoring with 11 points (5g, 6a) and currently leads all rookies in shots with 59.

Other players nominated for the Aquafina IHL Rookie of the Week include: Bloomington left wing Adam Tomkow, Flint defenseman Kyle Deck, Fort Wayne right wing Sean O'Connor, Muskegon center Maxime Lincourt and Port Huron forward Derek Patrosso.

Tapp remained on fire this week, registering another undefeated 3-0-0-0 record. He posted a .958 save percentage and a 1.67 goals against average in the three games played. Tapp recorded his first shutout of the season Friday versus Bloomington and tied the league-high in saves with 45. He only allowed five goals against, bringing his goals against average on the season to 3.09, which ranks second among IHL goaltenders. The 30-year-old Kelowna, British Columbia native has won five straight contests, improving his record to 7-5-0-0 so far this season.

Other players nominated for the Southern Sports Supply IHL Goaltender of the Week include: Bloomington's Scott Fankhouser, Flint's Chad Alban, Fort Wayne's Nick Boucher, Muskegon's Bill Zaniboni and Port Huron's Larry Sterling.
