IHL Announces Monthly Honors For February

ROCHESTER, MI--- The International Hockey League (IHL) announced Monday that Muskegon right wing Robin Bouchard has been named the Pepsi IHL Player of the Month, Port Huron forward Derek Patrosso has been named the Aquafina IHL Rookie of the Month and Port Huron goaltender Larry Sterling has been named the Southern Sports Supply IHL Goaltender of the Month for February.

Bouchard completed the month with 29 points (19g, 10a) and a plus-14 rating in 14 games played. He had nine multiple-point games during the month, including a two goal, two assist performance against the Flint Generals on February 21st. Bouchard had two hat tricks in the month of February, the first coming on February 4th in Bloomington and the second coming on February 25th in Fort Wayne. The 35-year-old Jonquiere, Quebec native joined the Lumberjacks after leaving Rio Grande Valley in the Central Hockey League (CHL) on January 8th. Boucahrd has quickly become fourth in points on Muskegon's roster in just 27 games played.

Other players nominated for the Pepsi IHL Player of the Month include: Bloomington forward Jon Booras, Flint center Greg Bullock, Fort Wayne center Mathieu Curadeau, Kalamazoo center Glenn Detulleo and Port Huron left wing Tab Lardner.

Patrosso finished the month with 13 points (7g, 6a) and plus-9 rating in 11 games played. He scored at least one point in eight of the 11 games and had four multi-point games during the month. He is currently riding a three game goal and point streak, notching in four goals and one assist (5 points) during those games. Patrosso had an even or better plus/minus rating in all but one game in February. The 24-year-old Northville, Michigan native leads the Icehawks rookies in goals (16), assists (19) and points (35). Patrosso's 35 points currently ranks him fourth among IHL rookies in scoring.

Other players nominated for the Aquafina IHL Rookie of the Month include: Bloomington forward Bill Bagron, Flint right wing Zach Pearson, Fort Wayne center Rick Varone, Kalamazoo forward Rick Cleaver and Muskegon forward Chad Costello.

Sterling becomes the first goaltender to earn the monthly honors in back-to-back months. He wrapped up the month of February with a 4-1-1-0 record, playing over 364 minutes and had a 1.65 goals against average and a .930 save percentage. Sterling only allowed one goal against in three of his six starts, allowing a total of 10 goals against for the month. The 26-year-old native of Lake Orion, Michigan ranks first in the IHL in wins (22) and minutes played (2247:00). He is also ranked second among IHL goaltenders in goals against average with a 2.78 average, just behind Fort Wayne's Nick Boucher, who leads the league with a 2.73 goals against average.

Other players nominated for the Southern Sports Supply IHL Goaltender of the Month include: Bloomington's Jason Wolfe, Flint's Chad Alban, Fort Wayne's Nick Boucher, Kalamazoo's Joel Martin and Muskegon's Clayton Pool.
