Detroit Ignition News Release

(Plymouth, Mich., - January 11, 2009) - A stellar effort by Ignition goalkeeper Danny Waltman led Detroit to its second straight victory, an 11-4 decision over the visiting Chicago Storm (2-5). Waltman had 21 saves in the nets tonight, on top of 19 he posted last night in Milwaukee.

The game was a defensive battle from the start; the first quarter's only score came from Ignition midfielder Ryan Mack on a penalty kick. Chicago netted two goals in the second stanza - the first on a Storm power play from defender Branko Savic. Chicago midfielder Kyle Lance gave his team a 4-2 lead off a give from Andy Rosenband as the game moved into halftime.

Worteh Sampson, playing at home for the first time this season following an ankle injury, tied things up seven minutes into the third. Ignition newcomer Drew Ducker put Detroit on top at 6:47 of the fourth with an assist from rookie defender Darrel Quinn. With the clock winding down, the Storm pulled their goalkeeper and the Ignition were quick to capitalize - Both Miki Djerisilo and Ryan Mack took advantage of the open net to bring the final score to 11-4.

The Ignition (3-2) continue a four-game home stretch next Sunday, January 18 against the Milwaukee Wave. Kick off is at 4:35 pm at Compuware Arena.
