(Southfield, Mich., January 30, 2008) - The Detroit Ignition (12-5) will travel to Philadelphia this weekend to take on the defending MISL Champion KiXX (8-11) on Saturday, February 2. The Ignition go into the weekend on top of the MISL standings, a half-game ahead of the Milwaukee Wave (12-6).

February 2, 2008: Detroit Ignition (12-5) at Philadelphia KiXX (8-11)

The Ignition will travel to Philadelphia this weekend to take on the defending MISL Champion KiXX for the third time this season. The club has posted a 2-0 record against the KiXX this year. Philadelphia's rookie goalkeeper Nick Hovaker won his first game last weekend when Philadelphia defeated the New Jersey Ironmen (10-7) 17-13 on Sunday. The KiXX have been without starting goalkeeper Peter Pappas for three straight games due to a neck injury.

LAST WEEK'S OUTINGS:

January 25, 2008: Ignition, 2, Storm, 9 The Detroit Ignition were defeated 9-2 Friday night by the Chicago Storm at Sears Centre Arena. Chicago midfielder Matthew Stewart scored the only points of the first half with a pair of two-point goals in the second quarter. Ignition forward Jamar Beasley added two points for Detroit at 5:06 in the third quarter, but Chicago's Randy Soderman and Stephen Armstrong tallied five points in the game's final stanza to give the Storm a 9-2 victory.

January 27, 2008: Ignition, 19, La Raza, 14 Reigning MISL MVP Jamar Beasley scored a hat trick to lead the Detroit Ignition (12-5) to a 19-14 victory over the expansion La Raza de Monterrey (6-11).

Beasley scored the first points of the night with an unassisted two-point goal at 3:03 in the first quarter. Birmingham native Ryan Mack added another two points for Detroit off an assist from Worteh Sampson just over three minutes later. La Raza was quick to respond, scoring eight unanswered points with four two-point goals. Ignition captain Droo Callahan stifled La Raza's attack with an unassisted three-point tally at 11:40 in the second quarter.

Monterrey midfielder Ivan Paredes started things off for the visitors as the second half began, scoring a two-point goal at 2:59 in the third quarter. Ignition rookie Abraham Francois notched two points three minutes later with an assist from Sampson. Ivan Medina scored another two-points for the visitors at 6:54 in the third quarter, but Callahan tied the game up at 12 with a three-point score at 12:13.

Beasley scored two more points for Detroit at 8:02 in the fourth quarter, but Paredes tied things back up at 14 with a two-point score at 9:25. Beasley and Kyt Selaidopoulos would close the game out for Detroit with a pair of goals, bringing the final score to 19-14.
