(Southfield, Mich., January 15, 2007) - The second-place Detroit Ignition (9-6) plays host to the California Cougars (5-9) on Friday, January 19 at 7:35 pm ET and travels to Philadelphia to battle the KiXX on Saturday, January 20 at 7:05 pm ET in a matchup featuring the League's top two teams. The Ignition-Cougars contest will be broadcast live on Comcast Local, the official broadcast home for your Detroit Ignition, or heard live via webcast at www.californiacougars.net.

IGNITION 17, WAVE 14 (1-14-07) - The Detroit Ignition (9-6) defeated the Milwaukee Wave (6-8), 17-14 in overtime at the U.S. Cellular Arena in Milwaukee, WI on Sunday, January 6. Detroit midfielder Novi Marojevic registered the game-winning, three-point goal at the 1:39 mark of overtime to give the Ignition its fourth consecutive win and second over the Wave. The victory completed the weekend sweep for Detroit as the club won its first-ever contest in Milwaukee.

IGNITION 14, WAVE 6 (1-12-07) - The Detroit Ignition (8-6) defeated the Milwaukee Wave (6-7), 14-6, in front of 2,969 at Compuware Sports Arena in Plymouth, MI on Friday, January 12. Forward Mike Apple registered his first game-winning goal of the season, a three-pointer, 9:31 into the third quarter of play to give the Ignition its third consecutive victory and first-ever over the Wave. The Ignition's offense was led by Apple and midfielder Novi Marojevic who combined for seven points in a well-balanced Detroit attack.

Upcoming Games

The first-year club finished the week three games above the .500 level, good for second place in the Major Indoor Soccer League Standings and just one-half game behind first-place Philadelphia. The Cougars will make their first visit to Detroit since a 25-15 Ignition victory on December 3, 2006 where the League's leading scorer, Jamar Beasley, scored a club-record five goals and 14 points. The Cougars are led by Bernie Lilavois and Vicente Figueroa who have combined for 69 points on the 2006-07 campaign and rank in fifth and sixth place in League scoring respectively. The Ignition-Cougars broadcast will be available live on Comcast Local.

Saturday's contest in Philadelphia features a meeting between the MISL's top two teams in the Ignition and the KiXX. The season series between these two clubs is split 1-1, with both matchups ending in extra time. A Saturday, November 11 battle ended in a 10-8 Ignition OT victory at the Wachovia Spectrum in Philadelphia, PA and a Sunday, November 19 finished with a 12-10 OT win for the KiXX at Compuware Sports Arena in Plymouth, MI. Ignition President/General Manager Greg Bibb served for two and a half years as the Executive Vice President and General Manager of the KiXX before assuming his current role with Detroit in September 2005.
